Vernon “Slip” O’Farrell Obituary
Cheney WA - Vernon “Slip” O’Farrell Jr., age 66 of Cheney, Washington passed away Saturday, October 24, 2021 at his home in Cheney. He was born October 18, 1955 in Salina, Kansas to Vernon L. and Neva J. O’Farrell.
Slip graduated from Medical Lake High School in 1974. After graduation he went on to Basic Training October 1, 1974. Slip was a Vietnam Era Veteran and taught for the Air Force Survival School at Fairchild AFB. He graduated from Instructor Training January 1, 1975 was assigned to B Flight as a survival instructor. He was an
enthusiastic teacher and loved teaching survival. Later he cross-trained into the USAF Rescue program and became a Pararescue Jumper (PJ). One of his greatest achievements.
After retirement from the Air Force he went on to become a paramedic and then a nurse. Slip worked at Sacred Heart Medical Center, the VA, and finished his career as a nurse at Fairchild Air Force Base Hospital.
Slip loved life and when he did something it was with zest. His hobbies included cowboy shooting, camping, disc golfing and scuba diving. His favorite TV show was Gunsmoke.
Slip is survived by a sister, Lynn O’Farrell of California; daughter, Amber Griggs; ex-wife, Teresa Bradley-O’Farrell; and two granddaughters, Hayden and Penelope Griggs of Spokane WA.
Slip was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon L. and Neva O’Farrell.
