Victor "Larry" Arnott a Pararesueman with the 102nd. NYANG died while parachuting into a remote drop zone at a Red Flag exercise on 2 December 1980 in the MOA outside of Nellis AFB NV. Larry had an extensive military background in the US Army, USMC and USCG, but was only a PJ for a short while. Alot of mistakes were made on the day of his death, but none were really attributed to Larry who jumped when he was directed.

Outside of the Wing Hq. at the 106th Wing there are bronze memorials that honor our fallen brothers in the helicopter crashes of Jolly 85 (Plattsburg NY) and Jolly 51(Iraq/Syria), a total of 15 killed, including 5 Pararescueman and 1 Combat Rescue Officer. And a memorial honoring Arden "Rick" Smith killed during the Perfect Storm (Atlantic Ocean) 1991.

There is nothing to honor Larry Arnott!

We want to place a memorial honoring Larry alongside these three memorials. The cost of these bronze memorials are appoximately $6000.00. VFW Post 5350 will donate $1000.00 and the local PJ alumni will reach into their pockets to help defray the cost. Your donation will help honor our brother and let future generations realize the road taken to get to where they are. Checks can be mailed to VFW Post 5350, #101 Old Riverhead Rd. There has been a Block of rooms set aside for our Great event. We will begin registration in Jan 2021 and we will post all the information you will need to the PJA website, Facebook page and the AIG. All you need now is to mark your dates.... We have a great events scheduled, just waiting on the hotel to finalize a few events associated with pricing. With 3 Units in AZ at Davis-Monthan the 68th FTU, 306th and the 48th RQS, This will make for a great competition and the gathering of hundreds of PJ's and CRO's. Let's show all those other Associations how we Role.
