To All,

We are sad to announce the passing of Ed Padilla on August 18th at the age of 92 at his home in Albuquerque, NM. Ed is survived by his wife Ramona and 11 of his 13 children.

Ed served in the military for over 25 years serving first in a Regimental Combat Team in the Army during the Korean war where he made two combat jumps. His route to pararescue as he told many of us was while he was in Korea he was walking past
a hanger and saw cots inside as a barracks. He asked who got to sleep in there and was told it was the Air Force rescue troops. After his time was up in the Army he joined pararescue and served for 20 years. During his service with the Army & pararescue he earned many campaign medals & ribbons as well as awards including an Airman’s Medal, Korean Service Medal w/Bronze Arrowhead & 4 campaign stars, Vietnam Service Medal etc.

Some of us did not know Ed or just met him in passing with a hand shake. Those that worked with and knew him hold him in high regard as a PJ, who now joins the squadron of PJ Rescue Angels who have made their final jump.

When one of our PJ brothers passes he takes a piece of our hearts with him. Please remember his family during this time.

Respectfully,
Steve West
