4 March 2002, Afghanistan Jason D. Cunningham’s MH-47 was shot down during a SAR. Jason was KIA while treating survivors and fighting off enemy troops. He was awarded the Air Force Cross.

14 March 1966, Vietnam James E. Pleiman was killed in action when his HU-16 was hist by artillery fire after a water landing to rescue a pilot.

15 March 2018, Iraq Mark S. Weber, William R. Posch and Carl P. Enis were KIA during Operation Inherent Resolve when their HH-60 hit a wire between two towers and crashed.

23 March 2003, Afghanistan Michael H. Maltz and Jason T. Plite were killed in action when their HH-60 was shot down during a SAR

27 March 1972, Cambodia Sgt. Raymond J. Crow, Jr. and A1C Raymond A. Wagner were killed when their HH-53 crashed.

Let each of us remember these brave rescuemen today.

1 March 1956 AFM 35-1 Identifies Pararescue Career Field

29 March 1973 Last U.S. troops leave Vietnam. Rescue assets moved to other bases around the world. Air Rescue and PJs remained in Thailand until 1976.
